The Text Orbits and its possible worlds between Ibn Fadlan’s Letter and Eaters of The Dead Novel

Abstract

This study is concerned with comparing the text of Ibn Fadlan and the novel Eaters of the Dead, written by Crichton, in terms of the manifestations of the Subject in each of them through its reference worlds and possible worlds. The study began from the text of the letter, as the original text, while revealing the dimensions of the novel Eaters of The dead that contributed to the development of conflicting topics with the topics of the text of the letter, and created various narrative programs, and yet it was able to preserve the structure of the original world of Ibn Fadlan’s letter, by keeping the necessary relationships as they are, and restricting the changes to the essential characteristics.
