In addition, ensuring whether the manuscript employs the appropriate research methodology, methods used in the analysis, linguistic integrity, and the way of presenting the results. The identity of the revieweing editors (s) is not disclosed to the author(s). If the manuscript fits that, then it will be sent to reviewers.

The editorial board of the journal may resort to returning the manuscript to the authors to resubmit it in another form, and at other times it may resort to rejecting it completely without submitting it to reviewers, especially if the topic does not fall within the journal’s scope and objectives, or the manuscript lacks originality, or there are clear problems in presenting and discussing the results. In case of the manuscript is accepted initially, then, it will be sent to the specialized reviewers.

Reviewing Process

Upon the acceptance of the initial review, the editorial board selects objectively three specialized external reviewers (two main reviewers and the third one can be sought in certain controversial cases) belonging to institutions other than author’s institution, to evaluate the manuscript submitted for publication.

The manuscript should not include a direct or indirect identification of the author's identity, in order to preserve the confidentiality and impartiality of reviewing process.

The manuscript is reviewed by at least two expert blind reviewers of the concerned specialty, to report their opinions on the novelty and originality of the research, contribution to knowledge, soundness of methodology, readability and clarity of the analysis and conclusion. Based on these criteria, the reviewers determine whether or not the manuscript is suitable for publication. Then, the editorial board builds the final decision based on the reviewers’ reports. The editorial board approves the reviewers’ recommendations and then informs author(s) of the final decision, which is as follows:

- Accepted for publication as is.

- Accepted for publication with minor revisions.

- Accepted for publication with major revisions and re-submission to the reviewers. (In case both reviewers have this recommendation, then the Editorial board will discuss this and vote for the final decision)

- Rejected.

Double-blind peer review Process

The Journal of Arabic Sciences and Humanities uses a double-blind system for peer review. The manuscript that passed the initial review is sent to at least two external reviewers with experience in the topics covered by the manuscript. Both reviewers’ and authors’ identities remain anonymous. The reviewers are required to report their opinions on the manuscript according to specific criteria including originality of the topic, contributing to the field, citing from new sources, and applying scientific methodology. At the end of the evaluation, they submit their suggestions and recommendations to the editorial board and report whether or not the manuscript is suitable for publication, or to publish it after making major or minor revisions or reject it.

Editorial Decision

An editorial board decision is made on the basis of the recommendations of the reviewers, the editorial board decides to accept it as is, or revise it, or reject it. In case of revisions, the final decision on publication is taken by the editorial board after re-evaluation and consideration of the author's response to the recommendations and amendments reported by the reviewers. In case both reviewers asks for major revisitions, then the Editorial board will discuss this and vote for the final decision.

Then, the revised version is sent to the journal within a specified deadline by Editorial board.

The revised manuscript will be re-presented upon its arrival to the same reviewers who evaluated the first version to ensure the author's response towards the assigned suggestions and comments. In this case, the reviewers may request more amendments. The journal does not allow more than two reviews of the manuscript.

Notification of Final Decision

Final decision of manuscript acceptance is solely made by Editor-in-Chief according to reviewers’ critical comments. The final decision of manuscript (accept or reject) is solely based on the Editors final review which considering peer-reviewers’ comments (but not solely by Reviewer). If the manuscript is accepted, the Editor-in-Chief informs the corresponding author(s) of the date of obtaining the final version after language proofreading, as well as the number of the issue in which the manuscript will be published.
