Abu Al-Ma’ali Muhammad Al- Barmaki and his book “Al-Muntaha” and a section from Al-Nawi Zaadah (1044 H): An exploratory and investigative study

Abstract

The paper sheds light on two research points. Those two points are discussed in two separate sections:  First section starts with the definition of “Al-Barmaki”, the author of ‘Almuntaha fii Al-Lughah’. It includes his name, life and death. This section aims to explore the organization of his writing in his book and discuss the opinions and the false ideas that are arisen concerning his book.  In this point, we also clarify the most important characteristics, and the most reactions that were taken. The second section is on Zaadah and his selections of the book. It will also discuss the way he used to select that, and the manuscripts from his selections. The study evaluates this version in the light of evaluators. The study finds that Al- Barmaki has a significant effects on the heritage, in particular the interpreters of Al-Hadith Al-Nabawi. It is found that all the false opinions that have been discussed before are based on unscientific background.  It is found that the way he organized the book is creative in a way that had not been done before: i.e., looking at the last letter, then the penultimate one of the last word till its start.
