Times New Roman Communicative and Linguistic Needs of Non-Arabic Speaking Janitors (Janitors in the College of Arabic Language and Social Studies at Qassim University as a model)
Abstract
The study aims to shed the light on the communicative linguistic needs of non-Arabic speaking janitors at the College of Arabic Language and Social Studies at Qassim University. The researcher opted for the descriptive survey method to answer the study questions and achieve its objectives. The study tool is the questionnaire. The study sample is all the janitors since there are only (8) of them in the college. The study concluded in a number of results. One of which is that the general average of the field of functional tasks, in which janitors need to use the Arabic language to communicate with the beneficiaries, came to a high score. The general average was (5.00) while standard deviation was (.000). The most important job tasks "communication in Arabic with the services supervisor at the college" came on top of the list with an arithmetic mean (5.00), and a standard deviation (.000). Moreover, the most important cultural needs "reading the numbers of the offices" came on top of the list with an arithmetic mean (5.00) and a standard deviation (.000). Based on the results of this study, it is recommended to establish Arabic language teaching programs for specific purposes at Qassim University. Before building the program, it is advised to analyze the needs of the learners then arrange them according to their priorities, The results of the study may then be used to create the program with a focus on the cultural needs. That should help janitors understand the Arab culture and support their communication in their work environment.
