And The Ottoman and British Attitude
Abstract :The good relations between Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah and Sadoun Pasha, the leader of Al-Muntafiq, continued for a period of time, as the military cooperation existed between them. Relations deteriorated due to the raids of Sadoun Pasha and his followers on the followers of Sheikh Mubarak; as a result Sheikh Mubarak intended to attack SadounPasha. He began his preparations for this, where he asked King Abdul Aziz to join him, despite the offer of King Abdul Aziz proposedfor reconciliation between them, but Sheikh Mubarak did not accept. The battle between the two parties took place in 1910 AD/ 1328 AH, with the result of favoring Sadun Pasha and his forces. Sheikh Mubarak's forces, led by his son Jaber, were defeatedalong with King Abdul Aziz, who remained on the battlefield despite his few troops. Because of the great spoilsthat Sadoun Pasha's forces have seized, the battle was called "Battle of the Gift". On the other side, When Sheikh Mubarak knew about this, he began to prepare a larger military force, imposing taxes to equip it, to avenge for his forces. However, the position of the Ottoman Leaders in Iraq and their demand for reconciliation between the two parties prevented another battle. The English leaders also warned Sheikh Mubarak of the big risks that may be raised with the Ottoman Empire. Despite the signing of the peace between the two parties, Sheikh Mubarak kept much hatred on Sadoun Pasha because of the defeat of his troops.
